Welcome to the Cliffs of Moher!
Even when shrouded in mist or buffeted by Alantic gales, the Cliffs of MOher are a breathtaking sight, rising to a height of 650 ft. out of the sea and extending 5 miles. The sheer rock face, with its contrasting layers of black shale and sandstone, provides sheltered ledges where guillemots, kittiwakes, and other sea birds nest. Also located here is the Visitors' Centre, and Obrien's Tower, located near the Visitors' Centre. It was said that O'Brien, as a noble, executed his "right" to sleep with any peasent woman who was getting married on the night of the wedding...he would take them to O'Brien's Tower to have his way with them.
